EXIGE 350: LOTUS DROPS ANOTHER SPECIAL EDITION
Lotus seems to have reached the point where much of its time is spent releasing special edition models of its existing lineup (rather than adding anything new). Before this Exige 350 came the Elise 250 and the Evora 400 Hethel, to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary.
This latest model shares much with the updated Exige Sport 350 on which it is based, as well as some lightweight and performance-enhancing features, and a unique paint-job and interior design.
It still makes use of the supercharged 3,5-litre V6, which delivers 258 kW and 400 N.m to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Seeing that the Exige 350 weighs 26 kg less than the standard model, it’s able to do 0-100 km/h in 3,7 seconds, with a top speed of 274 km/h.
While the exterior gains a funky livery, the interior scores lightweight carbon-fibre sports seats, forged alloy wheels and a lithium-ion battery to shave off as much weight as possible. Either black leather or Alcantara upholstery can be specified.
A revised front access panel cover provides more efficient cooling for the engine, while the new rear wing is apparently capable of achieving 42 kg of downforce at 160 km/h.
Other toys to keep the driver occupied include a driving mode selector and in-car multimedia system, which is just about all you need in a car like this to keep a smile on your face…
